ABOUT US

Leigh Pyron - Owner

Leigh is a certified professional dog trainer and a graduate of the Marin Humane Society’s Canine Behavior Academy. She uses her experience in the care and training of dogs to customize solutions for dog owners who want their canine companions to live full, happy, and healthy lives. Her philosophy encompasses the physical and mental well being of dogs and she believes that a well-trained, well-exercised and well-nourished dog will be a balanced and enjoyable companion.

Leigh also believes in positive reinforcement dog training. This type of dog training creates lasting results and is an enjoyable process for both the dog and the owner. This method is based on rewarding the dog in positive ways to get the results you want. She not only enjoys working with puppies, adolescent dogs and adult dogs in basic obedience, but she also enjoys the challenges and rewards of working with a variety of common behavior issues such as:

    • barking
    • jumping-up
    • nipping and biting
    • leash aggression
    • resource guarding aggression
    • dog-to-dog aggression
    • shy, fearful, insecure behaviors
    • obsessive-compulsive disorders

Leigh is also very familiar with and has had many years of experience working with rescue and shelter dogs that have experienced a variety of mild to severe traumas such as post-traumatic stress disorder. This is where the dog has become extremely sensitive to its environment, people and other dogs often showing signs of heightened fear, anxiety and aggression. She has been so successful at evaluating and resolving many of these cases that Trish King, the former Director of Behavior and Training at the Marin Humane Society referred cases to her.

Leigh is always working on her skills and abilities to work in harmony with animals. She has trained and studied the properties of Bach Flower Essences and frequently uses them to aid in rebalancing the emotional state of mind in puppies, adolescent and adult dogs. These emotional imbalances can be caused genetically or by a past or present physical and/or psychological trauma. She has seen amazing results when using the Bach Flower Remedies along with training and behavior modification techniques.

In addition, Leigh has also participated in an intensive hands-on 5-Day working internship at Eden Mountain, Vermont Lodge and Sled Dog Kennel with Sue Sternberg and Leslie Burgard. This workshop included extensive field research observing and studying the body language and interactive behavior amongst 35 working sled dogs, as well as assessing dogs through temperament testing, and learning how to interpret what is healthy play, risky play and dangerous, more aggressive play. In addition to Leigh’s canine experience, she has also studied and worked with horses. She was herself the proud owner of a beautiful, Arabian horse named “Jessie.” She has studied with Ariana Strozzi, owner of SkyHorse Academy, who uses horses to teach intuitive leadership skills and intuitive communication. These are wonderful skills that allow an individual to move and work with the animal intuitively and naturally, which is what positive reinforcement dog training is all about.

Leigh also believes diet and nutrition can play an important role in a dog's mental and physical health. She has written articles on dog training for Omega Fields, a nutritional products company that sells supplements for both canines and equines. You can find her featured articles here.

Leigh is very passionate about her work and is always concerned about the safety and well being of your dog. She is licensed and insured and certified in Pet First Aid and CPR. Her professionalism, integrity and reliability will give you the peace of mind in knowing that your dog is safe while in her company.
